Casting News of the Day: NBC officially confirmed today that James Spader (sex, lies, and videotape, Crash, Secretary) will be joining The Office to play Sabre’s new CEO Robert California, replacing Kathy Bates who departs to focus on her other NBC show, Harry’s Law.
“James will reprise his role as Robert California, this uber-salesman that has a power to convince and manipulate, like a high-class weirdo Jedi warrior,” Office executive producer Paul Lieberstein (better known as Toby) said in a statement. “He’ll have been hired over the summer as the new manager, but within hours, got himself promoted. Within days, he took over the company. James has an energy that is completely his own, and ‘The Office’ has no tools for dealing with this guy. We’re thrilled he’s joining our cast.”

for my type class we had to make an insult-based composition using a geometric sans-serif with didot. this insult was too good to pass up. the poster looks much better in print at 10x14” - the spacing doesn’t look as awkward.

cool assignment ;)

Office Spinoff of the Day: Dwight Schrute may be getting his own show.
NBC is reportedly developing a spinoff series for the popular Office character. The project is in its infancy, but the network is setting its sights on a midseason 2013 launch date.
The show will be a family sitcom, based on a premise proposed by Schrute actor Rainn Wilson and Office showrunner Paul Lieberstein (who plays Toby). According to an early synopsis, the spinoff will be set at Dwight’s beet farm and B&B.
“Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B,” a source told Deadline. “A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them. NBC agreed, it’s been further developed to include multiple generations, many cousins and neighbors. At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together.”
Office executive producers Ben Silverman and Howard Klein are also attached. Greg Daniels will reportedly sit this one out.
